QUANTITY & SIZING

How many packs does a full head need?

Most installs require 6–8 packs (120–160g). Fine hair typically needs around 100g, while thick hair may require up to 200g. Your stylist will assess your hair density at consultation.

How many strands or wefts come per pack?

Genius Weft: 1 weft at 11.5" wide. Tape-In: 20 tabs per pack. K-Tips: 20 keratin-bonded strands per bundle.

What lengths are available?

All Marie James extensions are available in 18", 22", and 24".

COLOR

How many shades are available?

Marie James offers 27 shades across three collections — 15 multidimensional blends and 12 solid shades — spanning the Naturals, Indulgence, and Signature Collections.

Can I dye or tone the hair?

Yes. All Marie James extensions are 100% human hair and can be toned or colored. We recommend consulting a professional stylist and always performing a strand test first.

How do I match a client's color?

We recommend using the Marie James Color Ring, which includes all 27 shades for precise client matching in person.

APPLICATION & METHODS

Which method is right for which hair type?

Genius Weft works beautifully on all hair types. Tape-Ins are best suited for medium hair types. K-Tips work on all hair types but are especially ideal for fine hair due to their lightweight, discreet bond.

What tools do I need?

Installation tools are sold separately. Marie James offers a full range of professional application tools including pre-strung microbeads, a looper tool, and more — available in the Artist Tools collection.

How long does each method last between maintenance?

Genius Weft: Up to 12 months with proper care. Tape-Ins: 6–8 weeks between move-up appointments. K-Tips: 3–4 months between maintenance.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

How often should the hair be washed?

We recommend washing every 2–4 days. Over-washing can shorten the life of your extensions and loosen adhesive bonds.

What products are safe to use?

Use sulfate-free, pH-balanced shampoo and conditioner (pH 4.5–5.5). Look for conditioners containing behentrimonium methosulfate, which provides moisture without weighing down the hair or affecting bonds.

How should extensions be brushed?

Use a Wet Brush or loop brush. Brush morning, night, and after washing — always starting from the ends and working upward to avoid tension at the bonds.

How should I dry my extensions?

Air-dry whenever possible. Never rub with a towel — instead, gently squeeze out excess water. Always ensure extensions are fully dry before sleeping to prevent matting and bond slippage.

How often should extensions be trimmed?

We recommend a trim every 3–4 months to keep ends healthy and blended naturally with your hair.
